Final Fantasy XVI, Square Enix’s highly-anticipated next opus, is about to be released, and new information reveals the game’s considerable size as well as the preload date.
90.18 GB of storage space, you’re going to need room on your PS5
According to information shared by PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, Final Fantasy XVI will occupy 90.18 GB of storage space. While this may not be as massive as some recent titles, it’s still an imposing size. By the way, if you feel that your console’s storage space is too limited, you can choose from our selection of the best SSDs for PS5. Most of our 1TB references are also available in 2TB, and prices for NVMe in PCIe 4.0 are becoming increasingly attractive.
It should be noted that this is the 1,000,000 version of the game, which means that the total size could be a little larger with the addition of the Day One patch recently confirmed by the development team. Players will be able to start pre-loading two days before the game’s releaseThis will give them plenty of time to download the game and be ready to play on June 22.
Although the development team initially stated that no Day One patch was planned, it has been confirmed that a patch will eventually be available to resolve performance issues that were observed even in the playable demo. The patch will correct a checkpoint-related progress issue, crash problems, a few minor text errors and provide performance optimizations in several places.

Although combat in the playable demo went off without a hitch most of the time, exploration sequences showed some fluidity problems in both display modes. Any improvement in performance will be most welcome.
Final Fantasy XVI will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 22, offering players an epic experience in this fan-favorite universe.
